| Who
Are The Lions? |
The
Churchville Lions Club is part of Lions Clubs International.
Since 1917, Lions Clubs have offered volunteers the opportunity
to join a locally based but internationally networked
service organization and give something back to their
communities. From involving members in projects as local
as cleaning up an area park or as far-reaching as bringing
sight to the world’s blind, Lions Clubs have always
embraced those committed to building a brighter future
for their community and the world. The men and women
that join Lions Clubs enjoy fellowship and develop their
individual capabilities, dedicating time to helping those
in need and making their communities better places in
which to live.
WE
SERVE – Nearly 1.4 million Lions
members in 190 countries and geographic areas answer
the needs that challenge the communities of the
world. Lions tackle tough problems like blindness,
drug abuse prevention, and diabetes awareness.
GLOBAL
NEIGHBORS – Lions members – both
men and women – provide immediate and sustained
relief in time of disaster and offer long-term
assistance to those in need. Lions collect and
recycle eyeglasses for distribution in developing
countries and support the treatment of millions
of people to prevent river blindness.
COMMUNITY
LEADERS – Lions improve the quality
of life in their local communities by undertaking
projects such as building parks, supporting hospitals,
and establishing water treatment programs.
For
over 85 years, whenever there is a need at home or
around the world, Lions members are there to help – WE
SERVE.

"We
Serve"
In
addition to the service we provide to the Churchville/Riga
community, many members of the Churchville Lions Club
serve Lions Clubs International at the regional, state
and international level – and many of our members
have been formally recognized by their peers for their
outstanding service.
The
programs of Lions Clubs International, and the projects
of the Churchville Lions Club, are continually changing
to meet new needs and greater demands, but our mission
has never wavered: “We
Serve.”
